Simrin noticed him before she had a reason to.

He was loud, the kind of loud that didn’t need volume. Just presence. Always smiling. Always in motion. Somehow everywhere without saying much at all.

They were in the library at Trinity Western. She looked up. So did he. And for a second, everything paused. They didn’t speak. Just quietly aware of each other, but too shy to say anything. But something passed between them anyway — the kind of moment you only recognize in reverse.

Simrin remembers exactly how it felt.
“He was outspoken, funny, and always smiling — his energy was impossible to ignore.”

And Sajan? He was already paying attention.
“Her confidence. Her energy. And the passion she had for the things that mattered most.”

It could’ve ended there. But it didn’t.
The next time they saw each other, he asked if she wanted to grab a coffee. Just Starbucks. Nothing more than that.

But the connection hit fast and hard. The kind that doesn’t need convincing. Or explanation.
Like starting a conversation you already knew the rhythm of.

And that was it. No slow burn. No guessing. Just clarity, from the start.

From there, it didn’t slow down. But it never felt rushed.

They started traveling early on.
Not to escape, but to expand, the kind of trips that left them more aligned than when they left.
New cities. New food. New conversations.

But it wasn’t the destinations. It was the rhythm they built between them.
That sense of — we’re in this together. Wherever this is.

They challenged each other, too.
To do more. To slow down. To keep choosing growth.

“We love that we can laugh together, support each other through tough times, and always find new ways to make life exciting.”

Not long after, Simrin was walking in South Asian Fashion Week. It was a milestone for her and maybe the right moment for something more. Both families showed up. It was the first time they met. The timing made sense. And just like that, it stopped feeling like just the two of them. It started to feel like something more. Steady. Aligned. Good. The kind of good that doesn’t make you question what’s next, it makes you want to protect it. And for Sajan, that meant asking a question he already knew the answer to.

He told Simrin they had dinner plans near Crescent Beach. Nothing unusual. They got there early, and he asked if she wanted to walk for a bit.

“It was windy, and I really didn’t want to,” Simrin says. “But he gently convinced me to go anyway.”

The beach was mostly empty. The tide was out. The sun had that late-evening kind of light. And when they got to the far end, he stopped. Sajan got down on one knee. And just like that, he asked her to marry him.

“It was everything I’d ever envisioned — personal, private, and perfectly intimate.”

Later, she found out he’d arranged for a photographer to capture it all from a distance.
“The best part is that we can look back at those photos and remember exactly how it felt.”

It was quiet. It was thoughtful. And it was hers, just the way she’d always dreamed it would be.

The next chapter came with a timeline and a spreadsheet. With a background in project management, the structure for wedding planning came easy. They weren’t overwhelmed. They were organized. Focused.

It took a year. And they had the right people around them — family, friends, vendors — all moving in the same direction. But the most important decision came early: the location.

They chose one of Simrin’s family farms.
Her family’s been farming in the Lower Mainland for three generations. And she wanted their guests, especially the ones who’d never been, to feel what that meant. The air smelled like herbs and fresh produce. Flowers were in bloom. Everything was in season. Everything was alive.

“All of the lunch and breakfast was served inside our greenhouses as this really engaged our guests to touch, smell and feel all of the beautiful products and herbs that were growing and everything was just so fresh.”

Guests could walk through. Touch the plants. Smell what was growing. Even the tractors and equipment were part of the decor.

On the wedding day, Simrin’s dad, Ron, revealed something she hadn’t expected —
a full pathway of fresh flowers, arranged for their guests to walk through. It was Simrin’s favorite part of the whole day.
Not because it was big.
But because it was from him.

“We both agreed that we didn’t want a weeklong wedding, as we wanted everyone to enjoy each event without feeling exhausted by the time the reception came around.”

Simrin knew exactly how she wanted it to feel – elevated, elegant, and timeless.
Not trendy. Not busy. Just refined in a way that would still feel right ten years from now.

“My inspiration came from Bridgerton — I wanted it to feel regal, but still modern,” she says.
She chose white. Clean, structured, confident.
“It made me feel strong and graceful. Exactly how I wanted to feel walking into that day.”

The whole family was involved — every detail coordinated. Nothing felt last-minute. Nothing felt overdone.

Sajan’s look matched the energy.
His outfit was fully beaded, with pearl detailing throughout.

“It really was a masterpiece,” Simrin says. “I wanted us both to feel styled, not just me.”

They didn’t overthink it. They just knew what felt right and kept choosing it.

They’ve travelled together. Planned together. Built something thoughtful and real. And through it all, they’ve never stopped choosing each other. Not just in the big ways. But in the quiet ones.

“Trust each other completely, knowing that you’re partners in everything you do. Keep the fun. Stay curious. And never stop choosing each other.”

That’s what they said.
And that’s what they’ve done.

Maybe that’s what makes this feel different. It’s the kind of love that doesn’t need to be chased, just cared for. The kind you grow into. The kind that stays.

Here’s to Simrin and Sajan -
to the path they’ve already walked, and everything waiting up ahead.
