As You Wish

Isha Singh & Taran Chahal

Wedding Date: July 26, 2024
Location: Caledon East, Ontario
Guest Number: 100

Bride: Isha Singh
Groom: Taran Chahal

Taran was trying to find his brother’s Instagram. Instead, he found Isha. Their names were close enough that her profile popped up by mistake, or maybe not by mistake at all.

He followed her. Quietly. No DMs. No bold moves.
Just a new name on his feed.

It wasn’t until Isha posted something about PropheC, one of her favorite artists, that he finally DMd her.
But that one message turned into hours. They started talking. Then texting. And eventually, Taran worked up the nerve to FaceTime her. Within minutes, he was joking about their future wedding colours.

It caught her off guard.

“This happened during covid so I was very sceptical about Taran. I thought he was bored in quarantine.” shares Isha.

He mistook her hesitation for shyness.
She let him.
“Little did he know,” she says now.

But something about him got through.

There was a rhythm to how he showed up. Never too much. Never too late. Just… always. And slowly, that consistency started to mean something.

“If you've ever watched the movie The Princess Bride, you know what I'm talking about when I say Westley's famous line ‘As you wish’ is literally Taran.  He's my go-getter, my safe space, the person I go to for anything, he makes anything I ask for, happen. He supports my crazy ideas and is always the loudest to clap for me.”

It’s easy to call someone supportive.
Harder to describe the kind of love that just… adapts. That shifts when you shift. That shows up exactly how you needed it, before you even asked.

That’s what Isha had in him.

And for Taran, there was never a version of this story that didn’t include her.

“She will always be my greatest support system, no matter how crazy things get. Isha has to be the most caring and loving person you can come across in your life. Someone you want to grow old and spend your life with.”

So when he proposed, he didn’t just make it special. He made it feel like her and it felt like the most natural extension of how he’d always loved her.

“It was magical! I sometimes can't believe how Taran pulled it off in the middle of COVID with so many restrictions, but he made it happen. Like I said, he's a go-getter.” shares Isha.

He commissioned a painting, one that represented her late grandfather, the man who shaped her love for art.
He chose the Harding Waterfront Estate.
He brought together the people she loved most, in the middle of a pandemic, against every odd.

“I remember the day like it was just yesterday. He made me feel the most special.”

Because of course he did.
That’s always been the story.

Which is why it made perfect sense that Isha and Taran started planning their wedding before they were even engaged.

“We started planning our wedding 2 years in advance.
Matter of fact, we booked our ceremony and reception venue before Taran even proposed to me!”

Planning was intense. It stretched across two years, layered between work and real life.

“The most challenging part of the process was honestly not having the help we thought we would.
Taran and I planned the whole wedding, every single detail to the last touch.”

Some days, it was a lot.
Long hours. Split focus. Careers still moving in the background. But they kept going.

“Some days, it would get so overwhelming trying to balance planning with our careers during these 2 years.”

And still, it turned out exactly how they hoped.

“Although, everything came out perfect, just the way we wanted.”

“We met amazing people along the way, aka our vendors, which agreeably between the both of us was the most favourite part of the process. We had the vision and our vendors brought everything to light. We couldn't have done this without them.”

There’s a certain weight to seeing everyone you love in one place, and knowing it won’t happen again anytime soon.
Isha and Taran felt that in real time.

“Our favourite moments throughout the wedding were coming together and celebrating with friends and family under the same roof. We knew it wasn't going to be many times we got all our favourite people in the world together in one place, so we cherished every single moment being with them, enjoying the special week and celebrating to the fullest.”

And while every part of the week mattered - the outfits, the details, the planning - what stayed with them was how they showed up for each other through it all.

“It's always you and your significant other against the world. When the two are bound by a holy promise, always remember that you are one. You may have your disagreements, but it should never be bigger than the two of you. Acknowledging you are on the same team will remind you that you can get through the toughest of times having each other by your side.”

Here’s to Isha and Taran, who turned a wrong Instagram search into a DM, joked about forever on a first FaceTime, and somehow made it all make sense.
