He Meant to Find His Brother. He Ended Up Finding His Future Wife

Bride: Isha Singh
Groom: Taran Chahal

Taran was trying to find his brother’s Instagram when Isha’s profile came up instead. Their names were similar enough that she appeared in the search, so he followed her. At first, nothing really came of it.

That changed when Isha posted about PropheC, one of her favourite artists. Taran replied to the story, and the conversation took off from there. They started messaging regularly, then texting, and eventually FaceTiming. On one of their first calls, Taran was already joking about what colours they would have at their future wedding.

Isha was a little less convinced.

“This happened during covid so I was very sceptical about Taran. I thought he was bored in quarantine,” she shares.

Taran took her hesitation as shyness, which Isha now finds funny. “Little did he know,” she says.

What eventually stood out to her was how consistent he was. He showed up, followed through, and made her feel supported without making a big production out of it.

“If you've ever watched the movie The Princess Bride, you know what I'm talking about when I say Westley's famous line ‘As you wish’ is literally Taran.”

“He's my go-getter, my safe space, the person I go to for anything, he makes anything I ask for, happen. He supports my crazy ideas and is always the loudest to clap for me.”

Taran speaks about Isha with the same certainty.

“She will always be my greatest support system, no matter how crazy things get. Isha has to be the most caring and loving person you can come across in your life. Someone you want to grow old and spend your life with.”

When it came time to propose, Taran planned something that felt personal to her. In the middle of COVID restrictions, he arranged everything at Harding Waterfront Estate and commissioned a painting that represented Isha’s late grandfather, the person who had shaped her love for art.

“It was magical! I sometimes can't believe how Taran pulled it off in the middle of COVID with so many restrictions, but he made it happen. Like I said, he's a go-getter,” Isha shares.

By that point, they had already started planning the wedding.

“We started planning our wedding 2 years in advance. Matter of fact, we booked our ceremony and reception venue before Taran even proposed to me!”

The process took time and a lot of work from both of them. “The most challenging part of the process was honestly not having the help we thought we would. Taran and I planned the whole wedding, every single detail to the last touch.”

Balancing planning with their careers made things overwhelming at times, but they kept working through it together. “Some days, it would get so overwhelming trying to balance planning with our careers during these 2 years.” In the end, they were happy with how everything came together. “Although, everything came out perfect, just the way we wanted.”

One of the things they appreciated most was the team around them. “We met amazing people along the way, aka our vendors, which agreeably between the both of us was the most favourite part of the process. We had the vision and our vendors brought everything to light. We couldn't have done this without them.”

When the wedding week arrived, the moments they valued most were the ones spent with everyone they loved in the same place.

“Our favourite moments throughout the wedding were coming together and celebrating with friends and family under the same roof. We knew it wasn't going to be many times we got all our favourite people in the world together in one place, so we cherished every single moment being with them, enjoying the special week and celebrating to the fullest.”

Their advice now reflects the way they approached the relationship from the beginning.

“It's always you and your significant other against the world. When the two are bound by a holy promise, always remember that you are one. You may have your disagreements, but it should never be bigger than the two of you. Acknowledging you are on the same team will remind you that you can get through the toughest of times having each other by your side.”

For Isha and Taran, the story started with an accidental Instagram search, a PropheC story, and a FaceTime call where Taran was already joking about wedding colours.

He may have been a little early, but he wasn’t wrong.
