Who we are

The Viah Guide is a wedding publication, vendor directory and planning studio based in Canada. Our privacy officer is responsible for the personal information we hold and can be reached at info@theviahguide.com.

What we collect and why

Inquiries: your names, email, phone, event details, budget, how you heard about us and Instagram, so we can reply and prepare a proposal.
Submissions: your names, email, Instagram, gallery and video links, your story and vendor credits, so we can review and publish features.
Directory applications: business name, category, city, website, Instagram, email and a description, so we can review the application and, if accepted, publish the listing.
Careers: your name, email, city, the role, a link to your work and what you tell us about yourself, so we can consider you.
Newsletter: your email, to send it. You choose to join, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Site analytics: pages visited, device type and general location, in aggregate, so we understand how the site is used.

Consent

Sending a form is your consent for us to use that information for the purpose above, and nothing else. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to us, and we will stop, except where we need to keep a record for legal reasons.

Gallery passwords

A gallery password is used only to view the gallery for your feature. It is not shared, it is not stored beyond the review, and it is deleted once the feature is published or declined.

Who sees it

The people on our team working on your inquiry, feature or application, and the services that run this site: hosting, forms, email and analytics providers. [List the providers once the site is live.] Published features and directory listings are public by nature. We never sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Inquiries, applications and careers submissions for up to two years, unless we are working together. Features and listings for as long as they are online. Newsletter emails until you unsubscribe. Ask and we will remove yours sooner.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw consent. Write to info@theviahguide.com and we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies

The site uses only the cookies it needs to work. Analytics that could identify or profile you run only with your consent, which you can give or refuse when you first visit and change at any time.

Security

We protect personal information with reasonable measures for a business of our size. If a breach ever creates a risk of serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the regulators where the law requires it.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 14.

Changes

When this policy changes, the new version is posted here with its date.
