Khushman and Angad’s story started before either of them really knew it, the day they followed each other on Instagram.
Neither of them thought much of it at the time. It was just a follow. No messages. No conversations. Just two people occasionally landing on each other’s feed. A like here, a silent story view there. That was it.
And for a while, it stayed that way. Until one day, Angad posted a story about his iced coffee. Apparently, his method was questionable enough for Khushman to finally say something.
“Angad posted a story about his strange way of making iced coffee at home,” Khushman shares. “I couldn’t resist and sent him a sarcastic remark.”
That one message cracked the quiet. The conversation didn’t stop until 6 a.m. They talked about everything and nothing. The kind of flow that doesn't feel like a first conversation, just one that’s been waiting to happen. And from there, they just clicked.
“For three months, we talked non-stop even though we hadn’t met in person yet,” they reveal.
She was in Toronto. He was in Vancouver. Two different cities. Opposite ends of the country. Different lives, different routines, but somehow always finding each other in the middle of it. The distance never got in the way. Not the time zones, not the lack of physical presence. If anything, it brought them closer. They carved out time, every day, just to be in each other’s worlds because something about it felt safe, familiar, grounding. They didn’t know exactly what it was yet, but they knew it mattered.
“By the time we finally saw each other, we had already fallen in love,” they say. “It wasn’t supposed to happen that way, falling in love before we even met, but it did, and it felt so natural.”
And when they finally did meet, it didn’t feel like a first anything.
“It felt like coming home. There was this feeling of calm I had never felt before. Everything around me grew quiet, even the distance we had traveled to get here,” Khushman shares.
She fell in love with everything that made Angad him: his fierce loyalty, the way he protects the people he cares about, and how he pays attention to the things that matter to her. Even the smallest things. He’s always willing to learn, to try, to step into things that aren’t naturally his, just because they’re hers too.
“But what truly makes him special is how safe he makes me feel. I often feel overwhelmed by the uncertainty life has to offer but he has a calming presence that eases my worries. It’s very rare for me to find someone who understands me so intuitively,” Khushman shares.
And for Angad, it was her honesty that pulled him in. That raw, unfiltered way she moves through the world. With her, there’s no performance. No pretending. No need to wear a mask.
“She’s my home, my partner, my everything,” he says.
With that kind of certainty, Angad told his parents about her. A few months later, Khushman told hers. There was no hesitation, no second-guessing, just a quiet knowing that this was it. And in February 2023, they were rokhed.
“It all came together in a way only God could orchestrate. We both know this love, this timing, this journey—it was never random. As Angad likes to say, it’s always God’s plan.”
Then came the wedding planning, which took about six to seven months, with back-and-forth trips to India from Canada.
“Surprisingly, the process wasn’t stressful at all. I knew exactly what I wanted (classic Virgo energy), and even Angad had a smooth shopping experience—though I like to think that’s also because of my Virgo energy,” Khushman says.
Some of their favorite moments happened on those quick Delhi trips. They’d eat, shop, laugh, and start talking about the future. Not in a what if kind of way, but in a we’re really doing this kind of way. They were aligned and excited. It didn’t feel like they were planning a wedding. It felt like they were already living in the life they were building together.
Khushman says she had a great experience with all her vendors, but there were a few that stood out in a really special way.
“One of the most special connections I made was with Parinaz Kharoud. She’s fairly new to the industry, but her eye for detail and styling is so refreshing. She absolutely nailed my bridal shower and cocktail looks—so true to my vision, yet elevated.”
They also loved working with Sutej Pannu, their photographer.
“He brought such calm, positive energy into the usual wedding chaos, and made every moment on set feel easy and fun.”
Discovering Ameeran Designs was, as she puts it, a happy accident.
“Their creativity and attention to detail felt different from anything else I’d seen. I ended up wearing their pieces for three events—and each one felt so me.”
And finally, two of her looks came from Pakistan—including the one that ended up being her favorite.
“One of them being my reception saree by Ammara Khan, which turned out to be my absolute favorite.”
One of Khushman’s favorite moments from the wedding week was walking hand-in-hand with her dad toward the engagement ceremony. It was a walk she had imagined since she was a little girl. “As he led me toward Angad, teary-eyed, and gently placed my hand in his, it felt like the most beautiful passing of trust. A memory I’ll carry in my heart forever.”
Beyond that moment, some of her favorite memories were the ones that felt the most free. Dancing her heart out. Carefree and surrounded by the people she loves most. Her cousins, best friends, and so many loved ones flew in from all over the world just to be there.
But through all of it, the most grounding presence was her girls. They were with her for everything, the laughter, the fittings, the meltdowns, the dance floor. Their energy made everything feel lighter, more fun, and so much more meaningful.
“There’s something sacred about female friendships,” she says. “The kind that hold you steady in life’s biggest moments. Having them by my side reminded me just how important those bonds really are. I couldn’t have done it without them.” shares Khushman.
Khushman and Angad’s story built slowly. For a while, they followed each other without saying a word, just a like here, a quiet story view there. But the moment they finally spoke, they didn’t stop. The conversation kept going, and somewhere in the middle of all that talking, they fell in love. A love that made sense before they even met. As Angad puts it, “Before anything else, we’re best friends. Husband and wife came after.” And now, that’s exactly who they are. All from a follow. All from a message. All meant to happen exactly when it did.
